Group 5 of the Community Service Program (KKN) students from University Muhammadiyah Riau, comprising 26 members, conducted a workshop on recycling plastic bottle waste into flower pots in the Limbungan Baru Urban Village (RT 004 RW 010). This activity aimed to raise public awareness and understanding regarding plastic waste issues, introduce the 3R principles (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), and foster community creativity in transforming used plastic bottles into functional items. The activity employed participatory and educational methods across several stages: observation, preparation, outreach, demonstration, hands-on practice, and evaluation. During the event, residents not only received information on plastic waste management but also actively participated in crafting and decorating the flower pots. The results indicated a positive response and high level of enthusiasm from the community throughout the workshop. Participants successfully followed the flower pot creation process—ranging from cleaning and cutting the plastic bottles, creating drainage holes, and painting and decorating, to adding planting media and the plants—specifically, chili seedlings. The activity demonstrated to the community that used plastic bottles can be repurposed into useful
products with aesthetic value. Thus, the workshop on repurposing plastic bottle waste into flower pots serves as a simple yet sustainable initiative to enhance environmental awareness and community creativity.
