ABSTRACT
Waste management and the implementation of Clean and Healthy Living Behaviors (PHBS) in elementary schools continue to face challenges, including low handwashing practices with soap and inadequate waste sorting among students. This community service program aimed to foster environmental awareness and clean living habits through the Green Leader Kids: Healthy Green Innovation program, integrating 3R waste management, PHBS practices, and the development of student agency through the Green Leader role. The program employed a participatory and collaborative approach involving fourth-, fifth-, and sixth-grade students at SD Inpres Bawakaraeng and SD Negeri KIP Maccini. The activities included initial observation, provision of waste-sorting facilities, 3R education, establishment of Green Leaders, production of creative products from used materials, handwashing campaigns, and training for teachers on producing handwashing soap from pandan leaf extract. The results showed an increase in students’ compliance with handwashing with soap from 30% to 85%, proper waste sorting from 40% to 88%, and classroom cleanliness and independent awareness from 35% to 82%. The program also strengthened students’ leadership, responsibility, cooperation, and environmental awareness. Thus, the Green Leader Kids program provides an integrated approach to supporting PHBS, 3R waste management, and sustainable student leadership in elementary schools.
