ABSTRACT
Community service (Kuliah Kerja Nyata/KKN) is one form of the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education that places university students directly within communities to identify and respond to the real problems faced by village residents. This article aims to describe the implementation and outcomes of a child and adolescent empowerment program through preventive education and literacy strengthening carried out by KKN students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Riau in Gunung Sari Village, Gunung Sahilan Subdistrict, Kampar Regency, Riau Province. The program was motivated by the increasing exposure of children and adolescents to online gambling, bullying, and promiscuity that threaten the healthy development of the younger generation in the digital era (Kementerian Pemberdayaan Perempuan dan Perlindungan Anak Republik Indonesia, 2024). The implementation method used a participatory approach consisting of observation and problem identification, program planning, socialization, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation, involving the village government, schools, community leaders, and parents. Activities carried out included counseling on the prevention of sexual violence, an anti-bullying campaign, socialization on the dangers of online gambling, reading and digital literacy mentoring, and character education. The results show an increase in the knowledge and awareness of children and adolescents regarding risky behavior in the digital era, growing active participation in educational activities, and closer collaboration among students, the village government, and the community. The program also produced outputs in the form of modules, posters, leaflets, and activity documentation that can be sustainably utilized by the local community. It can be concluded that a preventive education approach based on multi-stakeholder collaboration is effective in shaping a healthy, well-characterized, and resilient young generation capable of facing the challenges of the digital era.
